We are looking for an engaged and driven IT architect with a focus on IT infrastructure.

The IT department consists of about 100 employees distributed among the units of Infrastructure, Service, Development, and IT staff. This role will belong to the infrastructure unit and is part of a virtual architect grouping.

Your role

As an infrastructure architect, you will play a central role in KI's continued digitalization, where you will contribute to research and education of the highest class. You will be responsible for optimizing, developing, and implementing existing and future digital environments and enterprise solutions and systems. Your expertise will help ensure that our IT environment is both future-proof and flexible to meet the increasing needs of the organization in a secure and efficient manner.

You will also act as an advisor to the organization in ongoing and future projects aimed at centralizing IT environments within the institution.

Main responsibilities

In the role of infrastructure architect at Karolinska Institutet, you will be placed in the Infrastructure unit and be part of an architect forum consisting of architects with different focuses.

In close collaboration with product owners, IT service owners, and IT operations, you will ensure that KI's IT solutions are optimized to meet the needs and requirements of the organization. The tasks also include preparing decision-making materials for further development of existing and the introduction of new central IT services. You will actively participate in national networks within Sweden's higher education institutions and contribute to the design of target images, strategies, and roadmaps for KI's IT landscape.

Who are you?

You have:

Experience as an IT architect with a focus on infrastructure.
Relevant higher education in IT or experience that we assess as equivalent.
The ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
Experience working with large-scale enterprise environments, both cloud-based, hybrid, and local IT solutions.
Experience working on infrastructure projects.
A habit of keeping up to date with what is happening in IT and technology.
A strong understanding of information and IT security.
Knowledge/experience of server and application operations in a hyper-converged environment with databases, authentication, directories, containers, private/public cloud services, file management, data storage, client management.
Knowledge/experience of products such as Active Directory, Windows/Linux, M365/Azure, AWS, Shibboleth, MSSQL, MariaDB, Docker(swarm), Kubernetes, VMWare, Proxmox, Netapp.
